Our First Day in PR
View from our Condo
We are nestled right between the beach and the local marina. This is the view from our front steps!
We made it! The the zzz’s did great on the airplane and we were able to get to our place easily. This morning the kids were delirious, but far too excited to sleep in any longer than the Puerto Rican sun would let them.
Tim and I unpacked all of our bags, got everyone dressed and made our way to Humacao for breakfast. We found a cute little place called El Kafe, where we indulged in cappuccinos while the kids ate fruit and nutella covered pancakes.
The kids, still tired from a day of travel, were ready to go as soon at the nutella was gone. Knowing we were on the brink of three melt-downs, Tim and I finished eating, went to the store for dinner provisions and rushed the kids home for a nap!
After coercing Zara and Zion to take a brief nap, we walked to the beach near our condo in hopes of building a few sandcastles or stumbling upon a coral or two.
The beach closest to us is currently filled with sargassum (which we knew prior to booking), but it is an enchanting beach all the same. The kids had fun flinging seaweed and looking for crabs. Oh, and coconuts. That was really high on Zion’s list of “to-do’s”. Luckily, we were able to find some fairly quickly.
What started as a simple, beach adventure slowly turned into “mom, can we get our feet wet?” That turned into, “Janese, there’s a sandbar here. Let’s let the kids jump in.”
So we did. Clothes and all with Tim leading the way. His spontaneity is contagious and it’s one of the many things I love about him.
Zane enjoyed his first ever visit to the beach! He was interested in the water, but the sand under his little baby toes really tickled his fancy.
We sloshed our way home. Managed to dislodge all the sand from my curly kids, and got them settled in bed early. Tim stayed in with Zara and Zion to tell them stories about Vikings- which led to all three of them quietly sleeping. It’s probably good that I do the same.
